Mirapex (pramipexole) - any success stories?

Posted by SLS on November 19, 2004, at 8:30:03

I have seen Mirapex work for people in the short-term, but not in the long-term. Most seem to develop somnolence and sleep attacks after taking it for a few months.

Mirapex is currently being studied by the NIMH for bipolar depression.

Any comments?

This one seems to work very well very quickly.
Ie receptor activation is therapudic not receptor desensitizaition.

Rigerious exercis might keep this one effective.

Dostinex (cabergoline) might also be worth taking a look at, but I believe it is extremely expensive. I have not tried any of the dopamine agonists myself.

I just tried Mirapex. I was on it for about a week and a half and had so many side effects that were so bad I finally gave up even though I was not at what would be considered a therapeutic dose yet. I had terrible stomach cramps and constipation. For hours at a time so bad that I passed out a little and had cold sweats. I had terrible headaches and developed rhinitus (sp) which my sinuses are not yet working right after a week off of it. I also was in a fog. I hope others do not get such bad side effects.

People put "n/m: at the end of the subject line to indicate that the subject line is all there is, and there's no message, so you might as well not click on it. It saves people time.
