I'm depressed and so I've been put on Lofepramine, but it seems like no one has ever heard of it. If anyone is on it please reply. It's a sedating tricyclic antidepressant.

Hi there. You may not be getting too many responses
because lofepramine isn't sold in the U.S.It is supposed to be a kinder, gentler tricyclic,
with the nice calming/sedating effects of the other
TCAs combined with relative safety and lack of side
effects. I have never been able to tolerate TCAs,
and I would like to try lofepramine if it were sold here.

I'm just curiuous, what country are you from? I've been taking lofepramine for about three months, it really is easy to tolerate, I've never been sedated or had blurred vision, no noticable side effects at all. I'm treatment resistant and had become immune to all the tricyclics which were easy to tolerate and few other antidepressants have any effect on me. Lofepramine is derived from imiprimine, just as is desiprimine. The benifits so far are modest, but similar meds have always had to be augmented so I guess this is no exception. George

iwill keep checking your site for any info i can get
the doctor who prescribed it for me said it was more of a leveller than amitrytaline and prozac and is about in the middle effect wise of the two
will update this in 14 days when i have had time to let it do its stuff

However I've always been prescribed Dothiepin before but it has always left me very sleepy in the morning. I was told that Lofepramine is a lot less sedating so I'll be giving it a try.

I've been on lofepramine for the past few months now, and while it has had fewer side effects than other anti-depressants I've been prescribed, I have found that personally it doesn't work for me.

Yes, I've been on it for ages. I live in England. No one has heard of it on babble because it's not marketed in the US. Personally, I quite like it. What dose do you take? I take 210mg a day.

It works more on noradrenaline than on serotonine so it has a stimulant like effect. I was very short on it and couldnt manage the side effects. I was more stimulated than with Ritalin or Edronax.Good luck!
