Anyone over 60mg of Cymbalta?

Posted by jerrympls on November 17, 2004, at 0:03:45

I think 60mg is the top dosage of Cymbalta. I've been on it for a while and don't notice much except increased anxiety. Was wondering if anyone had their doc put them higher than 60mg? We all know that back in the day they said 20mg was the highest one could go on Prozac - now 60-80mg is considered a "medium" dosage.

Thanks
Jerry

I'm back down to 60mg now, but I was on 90mg for three weeks, and Dr CattleProd said that there are now reports of 120mg in clinical practice.

I hope that's helpful.

As for me, 90mgs was not A Good Thing for me, increased the amotivation and lethargy, didn't do a thing for the depression. Augmenting it with Wellbutrin, on the other hand, worked.

How are you doing? Any signs of hope for you?

Thanks for the info! The Cymbalata has helped me to get out of the deep depression, but that's it. It doesn't do a thing for anxiety - in fact I think my anxiety is worse. But my new pdoc is new to using Cymbalta so it's good to know that it's being used at higher dosages.

So it *did* help with boosting your motivation and lessening your apathy?? But not your depression???

Thanks racer!

Jerry

Sorry for any confusion, but the Cymbalta calmed me a bit, improved the pain from arthritis, did some other sorta random things -- and left me lethargic, amotivated, generally uncommunicative, and pretty flat overall. That got a lot worse on the 90mgs, but at 60 with the addition of Wellbutrin, it seems to be giving me a pretty good ride. Maybe it's balancing out the Wellbutrin jitters? Dunno, but the pain improvement is enough to keep me on it for now.

Hope that helps, and hope it helps you.

It also has helped me with pain in my shoulders and pain from tendonitis. Interesting how it helps so much with pain. Might be good for those with fibromyalgia?

thanks

Hi Jerry.

I was just prescribed 120mg. One of the doctor's in my doctor's practice did clinical trials on this dose and it seems to be effective. I was initially afraid that anything over 60 or 90 wouldn't make a difference at all. I'll keep you posted if it works.

Wildflower-

Please do keep me posted. I'm not sure how much this 60mg is helping. Does Cymbalta seem to increase your anxiety? It does nothing to help mine. I'm wondering if a higher dose would help or hinder?

Thanks for your post!
Jerry

I really didn't feel much at 60mg. I switched from Lexapro and didn't feel much different. Haven't noticed any additional anxiety. However, I'm also augmenting the 120 with lamictal, wellbutrin and seroquel.

I'm having a terrible time with anxiety and insomnia even though I'm on klonopin (for anxiety) and ambien and trazodone for sleep! UGH!
