Thanks to those that replied to my first post yesterday. I am feeling much better today especially compared to last night. Last night after I got home from work I had the strongest suicidal feelings I have ever had before. Fortunately my wife was home with me and I got through it.
I had decided a couple days ago that I want my family to start going to church regularily. I went as a child and I have many great memories from Sundays at church. Have any of you done that? Does it seem to help any?
I called my doctor and asked him if he was sure he wanted me to be taking only 30mg of Cymbalta. I read on the Patient Information booklet that the starting dose was 40mg to 60mg. Of course his office called me back and said "take the 30mg as directed". I figured thats what he would say but I want to feel better sooner rather than later.

The church has been miraculous for us in times of need such as this.
My mother was very depression and could not do anything for about a month. During this time our church brought me and my brothers something to eat every night through this time.
Now every church is different, but if you find one in which you feel welcome, you can be helped as well as help others.

Hi John,
Sorry to hear you've been having a hard time.
I'd stick with the 30mg if I were you. Some people find the official recommended doses of psychiatric drugs too high and experience side effects. Once you've taken 30mg for a short while you can increase the dose under the guidance of your doctor. Starting with a higher dose would be expected to cause more side effects and so it could make you feel worse. Once you're sure that you can tolerate the 30mg dose without problems you can increase the dose. If you're not having any side effects at all you could probably increase the dose in a few days. Perhaps you could call your doctor in a few days time to discuss the dose again. All the best...

PS. I just looked at the other drugs you are on. Your doc has probably started you on a low dose because of your other meds.
