Robot,
Thank you very much for the excellent reference which I attach again here.

I read the whole paper and feel so much more knowledgeable now. It really took the mystery out of depression and anhedonia and their treatments. I finally understand why tricyclics can help both but also what other combinations might be likely to help.
You shone a light on a murky subject and it is much appreciated. Patricia

Thanks for the article! Anhedonia is a MAJOR part of my depression and it sucks!
Thanks

Jerry,
I don't know if you would consider or be willing to try and augment with something natural, but I have been doing a little bit of research of a few natural supplements for amotivation, etc. that look promising. For instance, I have recently been reading that Acetyl L-Carnitine (ALC)(100 - 250 mg daily) affects dopamine. I think that another natural supplement which may be worth pursuing is Enada NADH (2.5 - 5 mg two - three times a week), which is said to increase motivation and concentration. I am considering ordering ALC, NADH and perhaps even DMAE, and giving them a try before going to battle with my pdoc for Provigil or something similar. iherb sells these supplements at a reasonable cost, with the ALC being more expensive.

I hope things start to look up for you soon. Are you back at work yet?> Tamara
