2 months on ritalin -- thinking of switching???

Posted by tulip04 on November 17, 2004, at 22:19:30

I've been on Ritalin now for two months for Adult ADD. At first I felt great, more motivation, definately doing better at work and getting things finished. I take 10mg in the morning and 5 eary afternoon, but the last week, I've been coming down a lot harder around 4 or 5... I get home from work and just want to sleep. I've heard Adderall is more recommended for Adult ADD -- any thoughts? I go back to the pdoc next week and just wondering if I anyone has seen Adderall help with this kind of thing...

A 2 day brake every now and then combats this problem for me.

I have been on Adderall (50 mg./day) for Adult ADHD for about 2 years total now. Earlier this year I tried Ritalin (60 mg./day) for a few months; however, it ended up giving me severe anxiety/panic and I found it did not last (nearly) as long as Adderall nor was it as effective (for me). My comparisons are of regular (immediate-release) versions of each.
Best,
L.

I was on Ritalin LA for about 3 months. However, it lost its effectiveness for me. I have been taking Adderall XR 40 mg in the am and 10 mg in the afternoon for about 9 months. I have had success with it and I am happy that I have not experienced any tolerance issues.
