Dexedrine vs Ritalin and anxiety induction?!

Posted by Ted Brosnan on November 15, 2004, at 16:17:00

Hi. Is it true that Ritalin is more likely to induce anxiety than Dexedrine?!

Is it more likely to worsen my Social Anxiety?!

Thanks.

Ritalin gave me prettymuch unbearable anxiety. And it did exacerbate my (slight) social anxiety.
I've never been on Dexedrine, but I have been on Adderall for about 2 years total, and it does not make me anxious the way Ritalin did.
Best,
L.

From my read on this board, it seems te tendency is---Ritalin can increase anxiety, but Dexedrine does so less often--and even may decrease anxiety for some people.
I took note because I am also trying to find a stimulant that won't ramp up anxiety.

Try Desoxyn...very little anxiety if any at all. It's smooth, it's strong, it's long acting, it's the best for ADD and such. At first you might not think it's working, that's only because there's no anxiety like what you associate with Ritalin and Adderall.

I've only been on dextroamphetamine, but it did not cause anxiety - in fact helped my Social Phobia. The problem was that the benefits burned out in four weeks.

Ritalin caused me to have severe anxiety and panic attacks, even in very small amounts. I've been on Adderall XR (up to 50 mgs a day) and have never felt even half as bad. My daughter was also unable to function on Ritalin, the ups and downs and increased heart-rate and anxiety was unbearable for her. I don't know why there seems to be such a big difference...

HI!

Has anyone experienced worse anxiety on Adderall, Desoxyn or Dexedrine than on Ritalin?

Ed

I haven't tried Ritalin or Adderall, but have to agree about the methamphetamine. It caused me no anxiety, in fact it reduced it if anything. Of course I had no prescription, I got it from my next door neighbor. He got it right from the "manufacturer" so it was reasonably pure.

I never increased my consumption, in fact I reduced it. When I first started it was recreational use, but I had never felt more like what I imagine "normal" people do. Besides I once took too much and it was an experience I really didn't want to repeat. So I would only use small amounts daily and it never stopped working.

My only complaint is it would give me what I called the stupids when it wore off.

Good Luck
Rick
