I took 25 mG Trazodone for sleep problems related to stress event and anxiety, worked great but I noticed I was very aroused most of the time. Just thought that was a side effect, went off after 2 weeks, felt better and didn't need it. Noticed I felt depressed and had poor sleep about a week after stopping, so I went back on. But, now I am less interested in sex and have odd orgasms, plus my erections aren't as durable as usual. Anyone experience any of this? Not sure if it's the medication but I'm trying to taper off to see if there is a link. Very strange.

Trazedone has been linked to priapism - erection sustatined for an abnormally long period of time.

As Link mentioned it is noted for causing "unusually long duration and painful erections." So it would seem feasible that it would have variations of that effect (increased libido and decreased with discontinuation). Sorry I don't have time to do much research for you, but check out the info on it over at www.crazymeds.org -- bound to say something about what you are experience. Best of luck!

Hi!
I was once speaking to a psychiatrist about the risk of priapism with trazodone. He said he'd never had a patient who experienced priapism but some of his patients had suffered low libido and erectile dysfunction on traz.

I think you have the right idea to gradually taper off of it. Trazodone is an antidepressant (although doses much larger than 25 mg are used for that purpose). So maybe that's why you felt depression after discontinuing it all at once.
After you have been off of it for a while, you should be back to your old self.

Hooray! I thought that might have been the case, glad to see there is anecdotal evidence of this. It's an unusual side effect, to be sure. I just respond very differently to stimuli on this drug, no "malfunction" but odd responses. Hard to explain.

Never had an actual priapism from Trazadone, but I would often get "morning wood" and erections b/f going to bed that were more persistent and would take longer than usual to go away.
