Wellbuterin?

Posted by AntiTrust on October 28, 2004, at 19:05:57

I was doing so good on lexapro 20 mg (was on it for ohhhhhhhh 6 months) and visteral at 300 mg for a while but it didnt do crap for anxiety.

sooooo....Pdoc takes me OFF both MEDS..and puts me on 150 mg of wellbutern (sp?) alone

It has only been 5 8 days sense the switch but I feel like a lump of clay sleeping alot bitchy etc and my husband says to go back on lexapro (I still have some in cupboard)

what I really need is a doctor to put me on a mood stablizer and these doctors stop treating each patient like cookie cutters on an assembly line!!!!!!

not only that but I cant get into see my dentist til mid NOV and I have 4 rotten (EWWWWHH) molars that need to be pulled (3 are wisdoms) and I am taking over the counter med for pain and on amoxicilon.

SIGH*

Hi!
Why did your doc take you off the Lex? Have you been on the WB for 58 days or 5 to 8 days? If it's only been a week, you're probably still transitioning. It it's been 58 days, 2 months is enough of a trial and I'd have a serious talk with your doc, asking for explanations of what each drug is supposed to be doing for you and why he's making the switches.

I think I have a similar situation in that I was on 20mg of Lex for about 9 months. It helped my depression but made me soooooo sleepy. I tapered off it while starting on 300mg of Wellbutrin SR. That woke me up and motivated me, but depression was still there. After 2 miserable months, I went back on 5 mg of Lex hoping it would take the edge off my depression but not make me sleepy. It's been 2 months on that combo. I'm a little sleepy but not so miserable! I have PMDD so my depression ebbs and flows with my cycle. It's not a perfect cure, but I'm better. Anxiety is still present, but not as bad. Hang in there!

Ok, if lexapro was not helping your anxiety I'm not sure why he put you on WB which, for some people can cause anxiety!! Could you switch from lexapro to another SSRI and see if that helped your anxiety more?

I WAS seeing a therapist and Pdoc that are paid by the county, a very POOR county to add. ummmmmmmmm....she the therapist told me she will close my case because I dont want to 'work' with her w/ breathing and meditating..she did not beleive in meds. I dont beleive just the breathing and focusing helps all by it self either.
Husband called the office today and when they heard my name they bluntly said SHE is NOT a patient here I can not have youleave a message for the doctor, nurse or therapist. Is her family doctors office open? or take her to the ER! SIGH*

I went into the pdoc office telling her that the 20mg of LEXwas GREAT it was the visteral that wasnt working at all..........so instead of stopping just the visteral...she switched to a hole new drug and sent me on my way........half a**.........all i have been doing is sleeping crying eatting icecream and cereal from the box on the couch watching tv.......which accually the ice cream isnt so bad <GRIN> i even cancelled my scheduled visitation w/ my three kids this weekend because my head is like OUTTHERE and I dotn want them to see me like this or be in bed all flickin' day and they wouldhave to spend parenting time w/ step dad which wouldnt be that bad and all but they need mom....'MOM" not basketcase mom.........

suggestions??? i still have lost of lex left in cupboard-should i flush the wellbuterin and go back on Lex and call my family doc on monday???

I am sooooooooooooooo frickin' sick of incompetent doctors. (including mine!!!!)

We can't make medical decisions for you here. If you have to, go to the ER. Seriously.
