Lamictal and Depamide - Question?

Posted by Clarinette on October 28, 2004, at 12:57:36

Bonjour à tous,

I am interested in your experiences of Lamictal. Here in France it is only used by a restricted circle of psychiatrists specialising in BP disorder.

It was prescribed to me a fortnight ago. I've been taking 25mg/day whilst having reduced Depamide (Valpromide, same family as Depakote) from 900mg to 600mg/day.

For the moment the only effect this has had is to let me waltz gently higher and higher; I don't know where it will end! The Depamide was obviously helping me but I don't tolerate the side effects and the specialists thinks that Lamictal is more suitable.

How long before the Lamictal might bring me back to normal speed? This weekend I'll start taking the 25mg every day until I see the specialist again in about 3 weeks.

Maybe I should add that I am cyclothymic, a recent diagnostic but an old friend. I've never liked taking medecins, and only accepted the Depamide this spring when I was very depressed and could see no other solution.

Thanks for your help,
Clara (Clarinette)
