Anyone Bipolar I on Zyprexa try switching to Lamictal?? I'm quite content on Zyprexa. It really causes me to sleep deeply and has taken away my delusional thinking. I tend to be on the manic end of the bipolar spectrum.
My daughter in law started on Lamictal and loves it, so I am thinking about trying it. My concerns are that I will lose the deep sleep and will become delusional again, if not flat out manic!
Does trying lamictal make sense in my case? I'm half thinking that I need the antipsychotic effects of zyprexa that I won't get from lamictal.
Any thoughts?

I'm taking both, with great results. 10 mg zyprexa and slowly increasing the dose of Lamictal. Im on day 2 of the lamictal. The lamictal seems to help bring me into reality. Sleep is still good.

Thanks, Sebastian. Can I ask why you started taking Lamictal in addition to Zyprexa? I really like Zyprexa but I think it keeps me kind of flat feeling. Does the Lamictal change that in some way? I need the benefits of Zyprexa to keep me from bouncing off the walls and thinking wierd things, but wish I had more of a personality left. Does Lamictal help with that? Do you worry about the possibility of the dreaded life-threatening rash that Lamictal can cause? I understand it is 1 adult per 1,000 who gets it. Thanks for your thoughts.

A little worried...
Problems with mood changes. Getting angry for no reason.
It makes me a little more down to earth.

My dad takes this combination and seems very happy with it.
I'm on Lamictal and Celexa (20 mgs) and thought about switching to zyprexa for anxiety and mild paranoia. I don't want a flattened affect however, thats why I lowered my Celeca dose.
Where do you think your anger comes from? the disease or the lamictal? Coming down from Celexa put me through spells of anger, which I am experiencing again, but I never thought it was coming from the lamictal....very interesting.

From the illness. The anger seems to be going away since I started lamictal.
This is the end of the thread.
