Hi. Should I begin the treatment with Lexapro at 10mgs ? Or should I start with only 5mg for couple of days and then switch to 10mg ??

It really depends how sensitive you are to medication, and what your DR prescribes. I started at 10mg and so did my daughter when we took it. Neither one of us could tell a difference at all, until our dosage went up to 20mg. My daughter even got up to 40mg, but gained too much weight on it and the doc. took her off. I took myself off, and went back to Welbutrin as well as she. Lexapro really works!! Some people gain weight quickly on it, some don't. Good luck. -L

I'm on Lexapro 20mg now, and am wondering what's next for me, since it's the last antidepressant I haven't tried before now. Did your daughter find added relief from depression when upping the dose to 40mg, besides the weight gain?
If Lexapro doses are half of what Celexa doses are (I'm assuming), wouldn't 40mg of Lexapro = 80mg of Celexa??
Ah. End of the road I geuss. I've got some Selegiline on the way, planning to take that at 10mg/day once the website I ordered from ships it to me.
I have depression, ADD, social anxiety, and some severe procrastination issues.

i started at 10, but went up to 20 within 2 weeks. it worked great for me, but everyones different.

She most certainly did find that 40 mg of Lexapro helped!! Her doc. told us that there is a fairly high cap on Lexapro when being prescribed for OCD, which we thought she had. She does have that, but during all this we also found out she has a Binge Eating Disorder. Combinging Lexparo, which caused her to gain, and BED was dissasterous for her. She is now taking Topamax 100mg per day for BED, and WElbutrin for depression.

I started at 10, and thought I was going to sleep my life away (while nauseous). I finally cut pills in quarters and took that for two weeks, getting gradually up to ten. Everyone is different. See what works. best. h
