I was prescribed paxil. It seemed to work for a while but I fell into a deeper depression.
I was switched to Effexor after increases in Paxil were ineffective.
Its going on two years now and my depression is a bit worse. It could be due to life experiences, but my response to ANXIETY is worse than I've ever imagined.
Before Effexor I'd only had two full blown panic attacks, now if I'm late with a dose I can't physically or psycologically function.
Also, I gag up to 8 times a day for no reason!
I'm on a high dose, 150mg twice daily?

Tricyclic ADs seem to be very good for panic attacks--you may wish to try one such as nortriptyline, which does not have particularly severe side effects. It works much more powerfully on norepinephrine than Effexor does and may be a better choice for your depression than Effexor, which is still skewed towards serotonin even at the relatively high dose you are taking. There may be other meds worth trying also, but in any event, it sounds like you might benefit from some kind of change.Todd
