Hi,
This is my first message to the board but I've been following it for sometime.
I was wondering about bromazepam (Lexotan/Lexotanil/Lexomil..etc) as it is one of the most prescribed benzodiazepines in Europe, south america and the middle east but unkown in the USA...
Anyone with info, experiences good/bad with this medication will be highly appreciated
Thanx a lot
Adam

In reply to Bromazepam anybody?, posted by darkhorse on October 4, 2004, at 6:45:45
This was the very first tranquilizer that was prescribed to me years ago. I was still brand new to meds at this stage so it had the desired effect of calming and making me drowsy. It would have no effect whatsover on me now.
I have heard that it can be addictive but have no evidence to support that statement.
All the best

Thank you Sabrina;
Why do you say that it wouldn't be effective for you now?
Do you take other benzo that was better?
I heared that bromazepam cause less memory impairment, sedation and is easy to withdraw from than say ativan,xanax..etc..Adam

I'm not all that clued up on the differences between these meds. My pdoc will not prescribe benzos on the basis that they are addictive. Well, any tranquilizer for that matter
Most tranquilizers that I took subsequent to Bromazopam would just not calm me down, including Bromazopam. My anxiety and panic continued right through being so "zonked".
Apparently the Effexor I'm taking should fix my anxiety. Ummm, it's not doing that. I would like to take something again that is non addictive, and does not cause sedation, just has a calming effect. But to get pdoc and husband to go for that is going to be a challenge. Any suggestions?
Oh yes, and less memory impairment as you mention. Already have a trillion holes in my brain.

If sedatives and AD's don't calm you down, perhaps you should try lithium or an AP.

> SabrinaWell, how about tricyclics such as Maprotiline,Amitriptyline,Nortriptyline? they have good records for treating anxiety/depression....but I wonder about benzoz not having an effect..because I think they have the ability to calm any person regardless if he is completley "normal" or has severe psychotic agitation...it all depend on the dose.
-Also I do not think they are addictive at all...I have been using them on and off for the last 10 years and never felt any cravings or escalating the dose and withdrawal from them is not that difficult...IMHO I think they are one of the best medications ever invented and that is why millions of people are using them because they are very clean drugs and fast acting, and even though SSRIs and the likes are being advertized ad anxiylotics, the frequency of benzodiazepines has not declined...and most anxious people who use SSRis &ADs also use benzodiazepines.....
one other note : I think that bromazepam is underrated in this board compared to clonazepam, ativan and xanax, although it is very commonly used all over the world except USA...any bromazepam useres out there?
Adam.
