Tricyclic poop-out

Posted by Squiggles on October 3, 2004, at 14:26:32

Hello,

This is a follow-up; my friend is not gaining
weight. I am so worried that she has liver
failure from the Serzone treatment. Apparently,
her dr. said it was depression and added lithium
to imipramine (900mg). She now has tremor --
i am not surprised at that dose added to imipramine and clonazepam; She is better in mood
and sleeps better, but still eats little, and
look withered sort of - the complexion has
improved.

The next app't is so far away (4-5 months) and
i do fear that she has a serious disease.
She has lost about 50-60 lbs. in a few months
and looks gaunt.

Is it possible that depression could do that?
She also has gastro problems, problems swallowing,
and a history of hepatitis. She also just had
a gall bladder operation (can't recall if it
was before or after the Serzone).

I'm worried that either the dr. told her she
has something serious, or the dr. has not
picked it up in the bloods.

Help - she's not worried!

I wouldn't seek any further. History of hepatitis (or a return of it) is enough by itself to cause her depression, weight loss and gastric problems. With a bad liver you have no energy and no appetite at all, i've been there.

Therefore, en premier lieu, she has to fix her health problem.

Tricyclic poop-out (p.s. - Reye's syndrome)

Thanks -- i will convey the information;
it's my fear against the doctor's and
it's likely i am paranoid after some yrs.
on the net with the anti psychiatry literature.

BTW, Reye's syndrome was attributed to
bad circulation -- sorry about omitting
that message.

Time will tell.

Re: Tricyclic poop-out - DISAPPEARED message

I am searching for a message on Dr. Bob's
board, witht he key words

"not the whole 900mg hog" referring to
the lithium dose.

I was very concerned for my friend that
900mg li carb. with the 150mg Imipramine dose would be WAY too high. And i got response (searching for that post now) saying, not to worry.

That message has disappeared according to
*my* search anyway.

The message contained something like

"I can understand the augmentation of lithium
to imipramine at 300 or 600 mg but not
the whole 900mg hog".

Any help would be appreciated.

I am searching for a message i posted
some weeks ago with the words

"not the whole 900mg hog"

in it;

I searched under message heading
"Tricyclic Poop-out" as well
as Dr. Bob's search engine with
key words.

I can't find it. What am i doing wrong?

I couldn't find it with the google search either. People say that not all pages get indexed by google, which means they won't show up on searches. The post is probably still archived, so you can go through the board archives from the timeframe when you think you posted and just look for it that way.

Thanks for looking tabitha.

I did find a "Maximus" reply through
both Google, and Dr. Bob's only search
engine, but not the preceding messages
on the subject on either search engines --
(i.e., the "not the whole 900mg hog") thread,
with the reply "not to worry" or words to that effect.

At this point, it doesn't matter much,
as my friend is quickly improving after
cessation of lithium. I find it interesting
that the lithium was stopped altogether
instead of decrease -- why not 300 or 600mg
lithium adjunct, for example.

But most importantly, she is
unconcerned about any danger to her
health now.

Hopefully, this lucky turn of events
will continue, and i will stop "playing
doctor, as she puts it. :-)

But yours is:-) just kidding;

Many thanks to Scott - i have a feeling
that my friend is too tired at the moment
to jiggle the dose; perhaps it should be
started at the low end and then increased.

I think doctors are possibly just too busy
to fine tune anymore; regretfully, in the
case of polypharmacy, nothing could be
more desirable.

Thanks to you both for your cooperation.

Squiggles

p.s. she is MUCH better now so i hope
i can rule out Serzone, as her dr. did.
