My doctor recommended that I try adding lithium to Cymbalta if that doesn't work well for me alone. I'm reticent to add anything that might cause me to gain weight. I'm finally thin again after many years with extra medication-induced weight and I don't want to add those pounds back on. I'd really appreciate knowing what others have experienced in terms of weight from taking lithium.

I am back on lithium again after a few years off and havent noticed any real weight gain. The first time I took it a few years ago I did have some weight gain though. Results can vary though, of course- I think the real concern with lithium is the thyroid suppression- which happened to me the last time I took it. They weight has not been a big issue with me as far as lithium goes - hope that helps -

WOW! I am so glad you mentioned that. I am hypothyroid. I vaguely remember reading a long time ago that suppression of thyroid was a possible side effect from it. I shouldn't ever take lithium.THANKS!
