I have been experiencing a return of nausea and dyspepsia on Ritalin, and it is really discouraging, as I have no appetite due to these symptoms and that was the reason my previous stim trials failed. Anorexia, f*ck it... provigil made me queasy all the time, but if anything increased my appetite, and I actually gained weight on it. Ritalin is destroying my appetite. it is making my stomach feel acidic all the time. When I eat it's that familiar feeling of needing to vomit... so I put the food down and try to distract myself from the sensation. I suppose i need tums on hand. it is depressing me. Does anyone have any experiences like mine, advice?

I just took .25 mg clonazepam. Klonopin has helped my IBS a lot, and I don't think it's done that purely through anxiolysis. Anyway i don't care why it works as long as it does. I can hardly eat and this is reminescent of the IBS flareups that were a regular part of my life prior to the introduction of clonazepam (actually, nortriptyline helped me a lot too, but I would still get sick after major stressors. it's a long story, but the bottom line is: I can't afford to lose weight).

>Hi Z,
What kind of IBS do you have? Amitriptyline lowers stomach acid. If you are thin, Remeron is a good anti-nausea drug.(5-HT3 antagonist)
Cheers,
Paul.

hi panda (paul),
I have the mixed type of IBS, but don't want to go into detail, especially since I have just woken up :) Pain actually may be the most prominent symptom. Nortriptyline has done a great job of keepng the pain under control and probably lowers stomach acidity like its parent amitriptyline. I am very thin and afraid of excessive weight loss, so I have thought about remeron from time to time. I will have to see if I can get this situation under control without adding more meds. Nortriptyline, methylphenidate and clonazepam all feel like 'strong' drugs to me, and I would prefer not to add another med. What I tried last night seemed to help- taking a little extra clonazepam. Anxiety about weight loss may be playing a role here. Thanks for your input.

Amitriptyline has about 4x the side effects of Nort when compared mg for mg, so it would be no go for you if you think Nort is strong. I am taking 100mg of Ami & they seem like lollies to me compared to the side effects of Effexor & Prozac.
Cheers,
Paul.
