I have been on 50mg day since January 04. I am in between docs and want to start tapering/ending my Zoloft.I will be seeing a new primary doc on 10/19 butI would like to start the weaning process now. Anybody else do this and did you have any adverse reactions? for how long? any info appreciated! Thanks Tooter

>I withdrew from Zoloft a few years ago from 100 mg./day. I can't remember over how long a period of time I did it (I don't remember it being very long though) but I remember that it was a breeze. Absolutely no side effects other than increased sexual interest and sensation. But then I didn't have any side effects (or efficacy for that matter) from taking Zoloft either.
Others on this board have mentioned having some problems going off of it but it doesn't seem to be a huge issue for most people like going off of Effexor is.
Good luck!

Can i ask why do you wish to come of it? what do you suffer with? and are you going to go on anything else?
Tapering of this med should e a breeze, just slide down slowely 50for a week 25 for a week etc etc keep halfing it then take every 2 days etc.. you will be ok.. if you got anxiety have a benzo on hand just incase or inderal..

Hey Crazy, I usually see you in "social".
I want to come off because I don't think it is a necessary evil right now. It was prescribed by my primary care physician last January when I was in a depression and was having panic attacks while I was going through a separation and divorce. I have since been in therapy and have actually been "graduated" by my T. It was only supposed to be a temporary "aid" not a lifetime committment. Unfortunately when I got the divorce I also lost the insurance which covers my old doc and I haven't yet established a new one. I have come off prozac before no prob but I know prozac has a longer half life than any other a-d. So now you have the story....I have an appointment with a new primary doc on 10/19 and figured I could start the weaning process now and by the time I see him if there are any probs he could give me a new scrip. Aren't you glad you asked??? LOL
