I wanted to tell everyone what I did wrong when I wanted to get off of Lexapro. I was taking 10mg/day for about a year. When I decided to quit, I didn't have enough pills to taper off slowly so I spaced out the doses to every four days. After about 1 1/2 weeks, I was completely out of pills. That was three weeks ago and I have had a headache every single day since. I also get occasional night sweats, have trouble sleeping and am very emotional (I cried at a cat food commercial!). It's not fun! I feel loopy all the time and a bit dizzy too. I don't know how long these withdrawls will last, but I hope not much longer. I've been drinking lots of fluids, especially cranberry juice as I've read that it helps to rid toxins from your body. So, PLEASE don't do what I did and stop cold turkey. Taper off Lexapro slowly. And talk to your doctor to form a plan to taper off. I ignored her suggestions and now I'm regretting it. Good luck all!

I'm sorry that you've had to go through that, and thanks for the note. But I just wanted to say that you're lucky you have a doc that actually wanted to help you w/ that. My doctor says you can start Lex and stop Lex w/o any side effects or withdrawals. She is either fibbing to me or in complete denial about it. So I guess if I do eventually take the lex I will have to figure out how to taper off of it myself! Good thing for this website. :-)
