When I asked my pdoc about Lexapro (when it was first introduced), he told me was not very impressed with that, but was excited about duloxetine instead. I've been waiting for it ever since and glad it's here!
Does anybody have any ideas about what would be involved with transitioning from Zoloft (150mg/day)+ Wellbutrin(300mg/day) to Cymbalta? I do OK on that combo, but not great. It could be that I'm just pooping out on it after a number of years.
While I would certainly follow my pdoc's instructions, I am eager to hear what you folks have to say. There is a tremendous amount of knowledge and compassion to be found here and I thank you for it.

have you switched meds before? I don't think there's anything terribly special about duloxetine or your current combo with regard to switching
I'm in a study in which I may be taking duloxetine (I don't know for sure, there's a 40% chance I am) and when I get home I can see if there's any info in the consent form that might give a hint about this. But offhand I doubt that will be very helpful since the idea of any instructions on discontinuation of prior meds is probably more related to the integrity of the study than the health and comfort of the patient.

Thanks! It's been a while, but I have switched between SSRI's and also to Serzone (two tries at it)with no ill effect. (Serzone was of absolutely no benefit to me.) I was just wondering if there were any precautions moving to an SNRI.

OK, I have my consent form here... no MAOIs for 2 weeks before or after the study. No Prozac for 30 days before the study. Otherwise it just says if you're already taking an antidepressant you need to be taken off it, "which may take from 7-30 days."
I don't think any of this indicates any need for extraordinary caution in switching.

Thanks for checking this out. I can understand about the MAOIs -- but only Prozac of the SSRI's? Hmmmm, must be the long half-life.
This is the end of the thread.
