I had them whenever I missed doses or tapered off SSRIs. I described them as when-I-turn-my-head-quickly-my-brain-tingles.
I figure they could come on when starting up a med, must have sth to do with rapid swings in serotonin levels in the brain?

I had these zaps while on Effexor XR and that's why I quit taking it. I can only take being shocked for so long and then it's just aggrivating. I have been off of the medicine for about 10 days now and still get the zaps, but they are subsiding. Good luck and know that there are a lot of us out there for support and understand what you and others are going through.

Thanks everyone. I dont seem to have them as frequent now. So HOPEFULLY they are just part of my adjustment from paxil to prozac..

Thats got to be what it's from! I'm goign between Lexapro and Luvox, same thign, only a bit though. Paxil was hell with those zaps, felt liek I was in a friggin electric chair. Effexor gave those too, except they felt different... ah the joy of SSRIs.

I know how you feel. Before I started seeing a P-doc, i self diagnosed my self from internet tests that I had depression and General Anxiety dissorder.
I then purchased paxil off the internet. I then took a little bit too high of a dose.
I heard pinging in my brain, sparks in my eyes, my brain was zapping. It went away in about 5 days.
Later when i had a p-doc we discussed how dangerious it was what i did but i was desperate so hind sight is unrealistic.
