> Fellow exiles, I have been fairly rapidly tapering off Effexor from a high dose of 225mg which I took for 7 months. My depression has lifted, at least to the level that I can manage it with company from my Golden Retriever and a good glass of Cabernet. I quit taking 37.5 mg two days ago and have had a bad time with the "hippy hippy shakes"! I feel horrible and am ineffective. Who can advise on how long this will last? It is a lot easier to gut through when the end is in sight.

I was on Effexor 300 mg for 5 1/2 months. Went to 150 mg for one day and quit cold turkey. That was last Wed and I have been through a variety of symptoms that are so unpleasant. For the first three days I was extrememly sick/vomiting, fatigue. Then three nights ago the muscle shakes/tensing up came on. Last night was the worse. This morning I feel like a truck hit me as I am so tired. I would love to know if anyone has an opinion on when they think this maddness will end and hopefully soon!
