Hi- I started remeron last night. I passed out all night long and really felt so drugged that i wouldn't be able to get out of bed. I walked to work wanting to take a nap on the sidewalk. I have felt like a zombie all day long. I'm scared to take it tonight. I'm also having this horrible pain in my stomach that feels like heartburn which just coinicidentally(?) started today. I'm also taking 200mg/lamictal, 1mg/klonopin and 18/mg concerta. The concerta didn't do anything. I just felt drugged and shaky at the same time. I couldn't even speak to people... I've been feeling like a total retard all day. Does anyone have any advice? I'm so sick of trying new drugs. Nothing seems to work. Thanks so much for any advice!!!

Rachel,
I have been on remeron 15mg. for 2 yrs. & the tiredness does subside. I took it over the weekend as the first night I couldn't hardly make it to bed. I felt drugged for awhile but it went away. I love it-helps me get a good nights sleep. Sometimes in the morning I feel sluggish but I walk 3 miles & that takes care of it.Give it a couple of weeks. What mg. are you taking?

If it were me, I would call in and leave a message for my doctor as soon as possible about how intolerable the drug appears to be. If it is too late in the day to get ahold of him, I would have to evaluate for myself what to do. My own particular bias is that I don't have a great deal of patience for drugs with intolerable side effects--I once dumped one after only two days. It was a situation very similar to yours where a drug was intolerably sedating, and I felt just absolutely horrible. I haven't taken Remeron myself, but I know that it does have a reputation for sedation. Perhaps someone here who has taken it might be able to give you a better idea of whether things might get better. Also, what is the dosage of Remeron you are taking?Todd

I just started at 27.5/mg and am supposed to increase to to 45 next week. After reading all the other posts, I feel like this is too much. I'm supposed to have my wisdom teeth removed tomorrow. How is that going to look to the nurse when I check in and can't even stand up staight? And I'm not supposed to take Concerta tomorrow either. I don't know what to do. Its been almost 24 hours and I still feel retarded. Thanks for listening... and sorry for the diatribe. Just really freaked out about both the surgery and the remeron.

Hi Todd- I have to completely agree with, but now that I'm in my mid twenties, I know that I shouldn't do anything without a consult from someone. Plus, I have Kaiser and they're a bunch of f'ing commies. I don't even have a real doctor. I have a nurse with "special privaledges." They return my phone calls 5 days later even when I leave an urgent message. I'm honestly thinking of paying out of pocket for a real doctor. I'm so sick of this shit. And they say they're left with no other options as Paxil had disastrous side effects and withdrawal. That's the only other one they tried! Sorry for the diatribe, but I'm fed up. I'm considering giving in completely.

nah nah nah nah dont give up.... get a REAL doctor.. are you taking remeron just for the sleep aid? its strange that u were started on 27 mg ... i would say start at 15mg.. for me 30 mg was more sedating than 15mg.. cut the dose tonight see how u feel.... atleast if u r a little sedated u will be calm for your dentist appointment.. see how things go... in the mean time get a REAL doctor.. and give the remeron atleast 2 weeks .. dont give up on it..
regards

Hi,
I too have just started taking remeron, 30 mg, switching from celexa 60 mg. I liked the effects for the first 1-2 days, after that I had increadable tiredness and stupididty; bumping my head and bleading. I was later so tired, 4th day, that I stoped taking it and went back to celexa. I phoned the doctor and left a message on his answering machine, he has not phoned back, so I guess its ok.
I like the celexa because it has no side-effects with tiredness and insomia.
