Another side effect from Effexor — please help

Posted by volkwag63 on July 13, 2004, at 18:47:25

I have been having extreme sensitivity on my tongue and the only thing I can figure is that it is from the Effexor I have been taking. I've been on it for about 7 months and just in the last month I've been having this problem. It's like my taste buds on the tip and the side of my tongue are swollen. I can no longer eat food that is spicy or that have rough texture (ie. toast). Anybody else experience this or am I just crazy?

Now, that's a good joke.

I have experienced incorrect smells since being on effexor. I reported it to my p-doc but she received it in the same barn-owl look of wisdom. Taste not affected but smells that are incorrect bother me badly. Seems to be decreasing, or I'm getting used to it.

Are you all right healthwise in other regards?

i had some intense taste/tongue sensations when i was withdrawing from effexor, but not while i was taking it.

i remember one day i was in a coffee shop eating a bagel with cream cheese and i started crying because it was so amazing! the most wonderful thing ever that i was eating the most delicious bagel ever!

as i understand it, temporal lobe seizures can produce similar symptoms.
