Hi all Tony C. here, the 7 year user of SERZONE, now the Generic Version NEFAZODONE. So many of my doctors in the past before all of the LIVER BULLSHIT told me I would need this for life, cause of Clincal Depression and PTSD. I have done EXRTEMELY well on just 100mg twice daily of the SERZONE/NEFAZODONE - I have tried in the past to reduce, and I felt like complete shit eventually mentally also. I am really in a pickle, this Medicine has done WONDERS for me, but I stress all the time cause it is controversial 100 to 1,000 adverse liver events out of 11 MILLION worldwide users. PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR CUSSING, but what to FU*K am I to do ? My current Doc says stay on it till they withdraw the Generic, if and even if they ever do ( THEY MAY NEVER ). I mean Cylert caused Liver Damage, and the Brand Name was a voluntarily withdrawal but the Generic is still available and helping people. Same as SERZONE. IF ANYONE ON THIS BOARD IS TAKING ANTI-DEPRESSANTS FOR YEARS, PLEASE LET ME KNOW, AND IF YOU WERE TOLD YOU WOULD NEED THEM FOR LIFE ALSO. IS IT SAFE ? I FEEL BETTER ON SERZONE/NEFAZODONE VERSUS NOT BEING ON IT, OR FUC*ING AROUND TRYING TO SWITCH TO SOMETHING ELSE WHEN I AM PERFECTLY STABLE ON NEFAZODONE.
Please Help and Advise

Hi Tony C,
I've never taken Serzone, but have taken just about everything else. I've been on meds continuously, that's nonstop, for about 18 years, and have no intention of ever stopping. Man I wish I could, but I just can't. Every time I have tried I have ended up in the hospital. And whether it was due to my just THINKING that I couldn't make it without the meds, or that my brain just COULDN'T make it without the drugs, doesn't even matter anymore. You know, my father has been taking high doses of all kinds of heart medicines since he was 35 years old, and not once has he considered stopping them, because if he did, HE WOULD DIE. Well, same here! And, all these years, some of those meds he's taken have taken a toll on other parts of his body - he's 67 years old now, but, well, he takes something else for those problems. I guess I'll just have to live with the consequences of all the meds I've taken too, but in the interim, I'm staying alive, and able to raise my kids.
So...I hope you'll continue to trust yourself and what your body needs to take care of itself. Have your labs done, and take necessary precautions to keep yourself functioning.
Good luck to you,
Sooshi

I would not switch untill I had a equaly or better replacement. I have PTSD, and take meds for 7 years now. I was told to take them for life, and that they are perfectly safe. If the drug is bad for your liver they would not let you take it for too long unless it was the only option. I took depakote for a year, till they found out the zyprexa works better for me and its not bad for my liver. So now I have all the right meds, which I can take for the rest of my life. Did the doctor say you were having liver problems? If not I'm sure you can take it a little while longer or maybe they let you take it forever if your liver stays ok. They would have to check that once a year or so for signs of failing. But if your liver is up to it you can take it as long as you want. Just tell the doctor how well the med is working for you. Most likely they want you to stop taking it is because the risk is there, and your doctor wants to look out for your best interests. But if a posible liver problem does not outwight the anti depressant effects you can probably take it.
This is the end of the thread.
