Help??
I've just been switched form a very successful 5 years on Paxil to Lexapro as my doc said Lexapro was the same as Paxil but wouldn't make me gain weight. Is he correct? All I've read here says that Lexapro DOES cause weight gain. I am so confused. Then I read that Omega 3 and Vitamin E can help you lose the weight without interfering with the SSRI's I need. Anyone switched from Paxil to Lexapro and seen a loss of weight? Anyone tried the Omega 3/Vitamin E supplements and seen success? I'm 5'2" and have gained almost 20 pounds on Paxil!

well kate, I can say that my clothes fit better on the lexapro, but I don't feel as great as I did on the paxil.
I was on paxil 40 mg for about 5 years too gained 40 lbs or so, stepped off it to help thy liver.
It's been hell ever since. I dont want to discourage you or anyting, but I'm on the lexapro 20 mg right now, and I'm still struggling. My dr wants me to try to take it up to 30 mg, and to be honest, I'm not sure it's doing *all* that is should be. Maybe some others can shed some light on this.

Thanks for the input! I'll see how I feel and if its worth it. I felt so good on Paxil--such relief!

Pkate,
I am on 5mg now after going all the way up to 20mg of lex.I have been on since December 19th and feel I am on my way out... I know that lexapro does make the weight gain, especially at the higher levels, I have gained about 5lbs, this seems to be the general thought, I have not heard lex causing huge weight gain that paxil did, I do know that the weight is not that hard to get off like I have heard paxil weight is, I really tried to loose a few weeks ago and the weight came off within two weeks...of course I stopped and let it come back but now I am wokring on getting it off and keeping it off. Cheers....if you want come join us on the social babble, there are a ton of us who are on lex over there. You will see my name, mrs. c, mystic, trucker, lynneda, magdenala, anxious babe, jlynne ect...
Cheers!

PS...I had luck using b12 and omega 3 to get the weight off but unfortunatley for me, after a while it made my lexapro pretty worthless...but I know not a lot of people have had this problem.

Thanks Lexy! I didn't know loosing the Paxil weight would be hard to do?! I think it should just melt off like it slid on! :) I'll check out the site you spoke of.
