Hi, anyone taking effexor xr find it increases anxiety? I'm on 150mg and finding my anxiety rising week after week. Tried ativan but the halflife is to short...anyone know of something relatively safe to take by day with a decent half life?
thnx

I'm successfully doing exactly what you describe. 150mg of Effexor XR, and 0.5mg of Klonopin twice a day.

To answer your question about the Effexor, yes, it increased my anxiety so bad I was scared to go to social events (social gatherings, church) and I was taking it to lessen that anxiety. I gave it 8 weeks at a theraputic dose and threw in the towel after that.
The only med that truly worked for anxiety in the SNRI/SSRI class was Paxil, but had to discontinue because I lost the ability to have sex, I'm male, which isn't so bad if you're not in a relationship but I was at the time.
This is the end of the thread.
