Folks
I've been on 40 mg of Celexa for the past three years, and I wonder if it's exasperating my cycling. For the most of these years it worked extremely well -- I never had trouble concentrating, I felt happy, secure, and social. Over the past eight months I've started having ups and downs -- rapid cycling -- and have added various drugs to the mix. But Celexa has always remained at 40 mg. Once I tried to quit cold turkey, but within a week I was having crazy-racing thoughts and was severely depressed.
Question is, can I expect these horrid withdrawal symptoms if I drop to 20mg? Might this be also enough to lessen the symptoms of bipolar without necessarily adding other drugs? (I am taking 25 mg of Lamictal, but it seems to level me out for a few weeks before I then end up depressed again.)
Thoughts?

In reply to Stopping Celexa: 40 mg to 20 mg. Withdrawal?, posted by AMD on June 28, 2004, at 21:46:38
I had the same effect from celexa. I droped from 60 mg to 40 mg. I was over excited, think I may have even scared some people. Yes the racing thought too. I've uped my dose, back to 60 mg, and now I feel as good as new.
