Ugh.. first time here, recently diagnosed BPII...
I'm on the Lamictal titrating up protocol, now at 50mg (been two weeks)... no antidepressant effects (SSRIs have not worked for me)... I was wondering how long it has taken people before they noticed any positive effects from this drug...
I am so disgustingly depressed that I'm sick of waiting... sick of trying meds... I just HOPE this one will work...

I took lam. for a while and it took about 8 wks b4 i noticed it helping. I also take paxil & zanax but due to the rising cost of prescriptions :) i had to drop the lamictal :( Its been about a month now and I wish i hadnt. I think it will work for you. its a good drug.
best wishes

hi
dont lose hope. You're still on a low dose...hang in there, i'm sure it will kick in.
It's is a good drug..it really helped me. I am BPII as well BTW.
The true effect really showed after 100-150.
At 50mg I did notice some effect but manily on anxiety/aggitation/hypomania.
Now at 200mg I really see the effects.
the slow titration is frustrating but if u stick it out this drug may really help- it has changed my life.
dont give up...
best,
d

> dOK, nevermind! It's been a few weeks and I notice a HUGE difference. Not manic or hypomanic, but just normal. The color of things has returned to life; my mom notices a huge difference, etc etc... We'll have to see how stable I am over time, but starting two days ago I noticed I began to feel better. Here's to beginning recovery from a depressive episode lasting over 6 months!
This is the end of the thread.
