How long have you been taking them? I have not taken either of those meds, currently @30mg Lexapro. It took 9 weeks before I could feel it working.~~~8|8

i was taking the meds for about 3 years then went off them at the end of april because i was doing so well. my pdoc was ok with me trying this. i finally heard from him yesterday - he said that it'll take 3-4 weeks before its back in my system (its been 1 week already) and to hang on. easier said than done!

It is tough. About all that I can offer is to hang in there, and to keep coming back here. Maybe you can talk to your doc and see if he can give you something to take the edge off for just a little while.
You might also find that you will need to increase the dosage after you've been on them again. Some people find that after they stop, then resume, that the dosages will need to increase.
Most of the meds work by raising the seratonin levels in the brain, and it takes a while for this to happen, and for the neurons to react to the increase. That's kind of a simplistic explanation of why it takes a while. I don't think anyone fully understands it. That's basically what you are waiting on though.
Good luck.

Dee.
