Has anyone experienced breakouts while taking Wellbutrin XL? Is there a chemical reason for this?

Yes, I have experienced this and do not know what the reason is. Drugs have all sorts of effects on human tissues.

Personally, I have not - but I'm not surprised. (I'm on 300mg of the wellbutrin xl)
When I started taking effexor xr my eyeballs went dry and I couldn't wear my contacts.

Anticholinergic effects (drying out!) are a common side effect of many meds including Wb.
Drink more water! It really does help, I just recently learned that the probs with my eyes I thought were JUST a result of staring at the computer are actually a combination of staring at the computer and not being hydrated enuf.

I don't know if there is a chemical reason for this but I just switched to Wellbutrin XL from plain Wellbutrin and I am getting blemishes. I thought they were hormonal because they seem to appear more around the time of my period. Never thought it could be the Wellbutrin.
