Got to See A Sonogram Photo of My Liver

Posted by cubbybear on June 1, 2004, at 6:03:51

Once in a while, people ask about the effects of various meds on the liver, from long term use. When I had to get a sonogram of my kidneys, gall bladder, spleen, liver, and pancreas last week, it was great to see that the liver checked out as fully normal and urine test of liver-related chemicals was normal. I'm no doctor so maybe some crucial liver tests were not done. But I was glad to hear bout this-- after being on Parnate for 20 years, as well as a few months in 2002 on Zoloft and Moclobemide. That's not all--Through in for good measure, 1-1/2 yrs. on Klonopin, occasional use of Xanax, Klonopin, Valium, and Halcion over a 35 yr. period, a sprinkling of Triavil back around 1972, and a dash of Mellaril in 1985. I drink alcohol only on rare occasions. Again, I don't know how all the other psychotropic drugs I've tried over the years get metabolized by the liver, but 20 yrs. on the same AD seems to have had no effect. If anyone would like to contribute feedback on this subject, of which I feel almost totally ignorant, just dive in.

One of the 3 major antioxidants / detoxifers that is produced by your body. you cant live without it (or them), the others are catalase and superoxide dismutase...

Glutathione is highly concentrated in the liver, to protect and detox / antioxidant...
