I gained 40 pounds on Paxil, went off, lost it. Now I am on Effexor due to recurring depression, anxiety, and panic. It works great, except for weight gain again (20 so far) and inability to orgasm-bummer! I sent to my p-doc. He had me try topomax for weight loss-hated it! So, my question is has anyone tried Wellbutrin with Effexor XR to offset weight and sexual issues. I need to stay on the XR for the time being. I am exercising and eat very well, so I know for a fact it't the meds. Thanks a bunch for any input!

That's the combination I'm on. At first we tried effexor xr and buspar, but I had non-stop headaches with it. So we switched to wellbutrin xl, and my appetite has been depressed. On buspar and effexor I felt like my body lost the "you can stop eating now, I'm full" button. Presently I'm at 150mg effexor xr and 300mg wellbutrin xl. Also take xanax for panic attacks and sometimes ambien for sleep.
I have lost 11 of the 35 lbs I gained since I started being treated for depression (tried celexa, paxil, zyprexa). I have to say I'm eating much less - I don't seem to get snack attacks anymore.

Hi! Thanks so much for the info. At what time of day do you take your medications. I take effexor in the a.m., maybe I should try pm and wellbutrin in a.m.? I have decided to try it-what have I got to lose. I'll let you know how it goes.

I take the whole whack in the morning, about 6:30. That way, I'm in the car driving to work when the sweating hits :) And that is also getting better. It's hard to maintain on the weekends, but even more important. if I'm too late i get incredibly agitated, my skin crawls, I want out now!
