I am now dding depakote bc it could be that I'm bp2. They once said I could be " mixed manic" and my therapist said im mildy bipolar. My question is, is this too much medication and is depakote hardcore stuff that will cause liver failure etc?

In reply to 1mg Klonopin, 15 mg Lexapro and now depakote?, posted by owenus32 on May 10, 2004, at 15:14:34
Oh, I remember starting Lexapro and having to have Klonopin bc I was so agitated. I don't have insomnia but I do have agitation(or is it anxiety) and I do compulsive spending and sex which i know is an addiction and not bp11. I feel like these guys know about as much about humans as my vet knows about my cat which is jack.

hi there....wondering about the BPII diagnosis.....are you rapid-cycling, and i assume you lean towards the depressed end of the spectrum? depakote - from personal experience - was what i imagine taking a stupendously high dose of barbituates feels like, and a magical ingredient that made me suddenly gain weight and crave junk food thrown in. mood stabilizing? well, i guess no mood at all is one way to put it, although other people will have different experiences. so, back to the original question: are mostly dysphoric, in which case the lexapro and klonopin might be the right cocktail, since your depression/anxiety could be nipped in the bud with these two, or are you BPII mixed-state, rapid-cycling, or other? all the best, chemist

Well, officially I am depression and severe GAD but my therapist said I am "mildy" bipolar and it's real hard to tell if it is anxiety or BP11. I definitely have agitation like hell without meds. Just felt wired but that was chocked up to anxiety. It's like , when I started lex I was so wired I had to take klonopin. I don't get insomnia I do spend and sex out. Before meds I would describe it as being wired and tired at same time and one shrink said maybe mixed manic. So who knows ?

depakote ought to bring you down *really* fast if it's mania, as depakote is quicker to ``level-off'' the manic side than the depressed side. in light of depression, you might find that depakote puts you where i was when i took it, practically a vegetable. can you up the klonopin? this might be better than going with depakote.....all the best, chemist
