My Doc started me at that dose and all the reading I have seen says the usual start is 75.

I assume you're talking about Effexor XR. The typical and recommended start-up is one week at 37.5 mg and the second week at 75 mg You can stay at 75 mg if you feel it's giving you the results you want or if not increase to 150 mg which is considered the dosage to get theraputic results. The start-up kits that Wyeth gives to the docs as free samples to give to patients consists of one week of meds at 37.5 mg and another week of 75 mg.

Yes XR he must have his reasons for started me out high ..just wondering if anyone else started this high?

Because you are not titrating your dose and just starting right at 150mg, you might feel kind of anxious and jumpy at first...but it will eventually go away!

That sounds fairly rough, but if you are in a despairing sort of a mood it could be good. You should be instantly aware of side effects, that's for sure. Are you taking anything else?

It really depends on how well you handle the side effects & you should get your blood pressure taken now & after a couple of weeks, also after a doseage change.

I started at 37.5 ... 150 seems like a HUGE dose to start with. For me even teh small dosage made me want to run all the time ... my legs would get restless and all but I guess if you tolerate it well it will mean that you will get the beneficial effects faster.
