I was on Lex for 2 weeks, and it made my lethargy much worse. My doc added Wellbutrin, and I feel better after just 5 days.
I'm not sure why I am still taking Lex? Is anyone on JUST Wellbutrin? How will I know if lex would have eventually helped?
Also, I've heard sexual se are less on Wellbutrin?
Any feedback would be appreciated

Hi, you may still be on Lex, since it may take the Wellbutrin 4-6 weeks to become totally effective, and for you to have full concentration levels of it in your body. It's awesome your feeling better after 5 days. It's just a guide the doc's go by to make sure that antidepressants are working or not. Maybe your doc will look at taking you off the Lex once he or she is certain that the Wellbutrin is working well for you?

Hey, It took me almost 8 weeks to really have the full benefits of Lexapro. I just added Wellbutrin this last week. I feel a lot better already too. the reason is that Lexapro and Wellbutrin are such a good pair together. one has what the other lacks. you could try after a while to lower your lex dose and see if that makes a difference. I think you should wait at least 4 weeks on wellbutrin though to see how this all goes and then maybe cut back on Lex.

When I started on Wellbutrin, I had been on a low dose of Effexor for some time. I eventually eliminated the Effexor because of its side effects and because the Wellbutrin just seemed to be a better antidepressant for me. I noticed that when I finally did dump the Effexor, my mood improved markedly.

Hi -
I have to say that I'm surprised your Pdoc would add Wellbutrin after being on Lex for only 2 weeks without giving it a while longer. It's pretty hard to judge an AD in that short a period of time. You could be better now because the Lex has kicked in, as only 5 days on Wellbutrin seems too short a time to feel better because of being on it. Typically, it's at least a month, some are longer than that. I'm guessing the only thing to do now is keep up with both of them, and if you continue to feel great...well, if ain't broke, don't fix it. When I was on Wellbutrin, only, there were no sexual se's.

The wellbutrin works better with an ssri as someone else has alread said. I take it with effexor. I take effexor at night and wellbutrin with klonopin in the day. The wellbutrin does not make me lethargic. In fact it hypes me up. The klonopin takes the edge off. As far as sexual side effects there are none. In my case just the opposite. Good luck. terrics

I'm glad to hear there were no sexual se for you-that's one of the reasons I'd like to be on just Wellbutrin. Did the Wellbutrin alone help you?

Hi VJW -
Actually, no...after 3 months on WB, and no help with depression, and INCREASED anxiety, I was taken off of it. I am now on Pamelor (an older AD I'd been on a while back) and have just started Lexapro and Ativan, too. I've had a difficult time finding an AD that conquers both depression and anxiety, and DOESN'T cause some very unpleasant se's. So, I'm hoping this combo will do it!

I didn't have anxiety to begin with-just depression, but now I know what it feels like for those of you who do experience this. The nervousness sucks, but it's better than the lethargy, for me.
I also have what I think they call "racing thoughts". I hope this goes away!

Oh, there's no doubt WB is causing this. Can you imagine having anxiety to start with, and then having it cranked up a few levels?? WB may be good for many, but it was definitely a wrong fit for me. True, your anxiety may wind down after a while, but it didn't with me. If you continue to have the anxiety, let your Pdoc know, as you may be put on a combo "cocktail", too. Good luck!
