Greetings
I have been slowly tapering Serzone - down 50 mg every week. I have gone from 400 mg to 150 mg. Two days after I started with the 150 mg, I wake up constantly through the night with these pounding headaches. Since I started the withdrawal, I have been taking 10 mg of Prozac in the morning - I didn't experience any side effects, in fact my moods and obsessive thoughts were greatly improving. But now with this constant reawakening and headaches - I am not sure if it the Serzone, the Prozac, or something else. Any help would be much appreciated. OH, I also take .5mg Ativan once or twice a week to help with stress.
Thank you

Hi:
>>>> I have been slowly tapering Serzone - down 50 mg every week. I have gone from 400 mg to 150 mg. Serzone, your system might have reacted TREMENDOUSLY not having 'Serzone' in the chemicals of your brain, ... or might be just 'withdrawal syndrome. In that case, you may need to taper off Serzone MORE and VERY slowly, ... like over the period of months about which I read somewhere Internet. -----

--- Sounds like Prozac is working GREAT on your problem, for that you must be very grateful. However, with Serzone withdrawal, you may need to talk to your pdoc., because 'pounding headaches' sounds to me like pretty serious condition, ... if this is not 'Migraine' symptoms. ----

Thank you for the advice - I think I will taper the Serzone a lot slower. Its strange the headaches happen only when I wake up in the night, never during the day. I am happy that a low dose of prozac seems to help, but I just want off all ADs sooo bad (I want to have a baby). I am so sick of this anxiety monkey that I just want to scream until it goes away. Can you relate?

Hi traveler:
Your previous post in regard to 'withdrawal' from Serzone:
>>> But now with this constant reawakening and headaches - I am not sure if it the Serzone, the Prozac, or something else. <<<<
--- Serzone and Prozac is complete different class of AD, the former has some similarity to Wellbutrin and the like, ... then in my guess, since Prozac is a 'pure' SSRI that might be causing the problem, 'pounding headache' that might be 'bi-product' of 'NOT' well-mixed ADs between Serzone and Prozac. For that reason, my pdoc. rxed Wellbutrin SR and Serzone combo. when I complained about Anxiety and insomnia problems. With this combo. I feel VERY peace in regard to dep. and anxiety.
In my knowledge, it's very IMPORTANT that med. combo. has some similarities in their properties/formularities although there is/are always some 'exception' among AD takers. At least, I'm one of them who is NOT able to take different class of ADs at a time. Probably, I can take Prozac after COMPLETE elimination of Serzone. I read, however that some of people are able to take those AD without any problem. Then, you and your pdoc. needs to know which group you're actually in.
In conclusion, it sounds to me like Serzone and Prozac has some 'bad' interaction that causing 'pounding' headaches. 'Reawaking' might be due to the lack of 'Serzone' effect in your system, ... 'withdrawal symptoms.'
