I've been on effexor for 2 months, the last month they've added lithobid, the first week or two, I had all kinds of energy, but now I'm sinking into a scarier, deeper depression, and eating my way there, has anyone else had this experience? I've been diagnosed as bi-polar, and this is starting to really worry me! Please help, asap.

How did you feel last month before starting lithobid?
What dose of Effexor are you on?
Also, what is your doctor currently planning to do?

He said that if this doesnt work its thehospital for me.

I hope it works for you. I am optimistic that the dose increases will help.

I hope so too, this is a very deep depression and I really need something to help me thru. I just thought this was going to be like zoloft did quit working after awhile. I wish they could make a miracle drug that could cure bi-polar and all mental illness, so we could know what it's like to live a normal, peaceful, and good life. Instead of this roller coaster, and all the other symptoms, and side effects we have!

I think that a lot of people take more than 225 mg of Effexor so don't worry about the dose being too high.
I'm concerned that your depression is as bad as it is at the moment. While you are waiting for the medication to kick in, maybe you should try to stay as active as possible and talk to people on the phone. Or go to church or shopping or anything to stay as busy as possible. No alcohol of course at this point in time.
Studies show that giving Ritalin during the early part of AD treatment can help kick-start the drug. Maybe you could ask your doctor about that.
Keep in close touch with your doctor.

I think you can go up to 300, even 375 if need be.

I think they're starting to work, I'm not nearly as sad as I've been!!I've been going places, and getting out of bed! And that's a huge improvement, I've also been thinking alot less about suicide, which is scaring me less! Thank you for being here for me at a very low time!!
