I have been on Celexa for several months, but my anxiety has gotten really bad. My doctor thinks I should switch to Lexapro. After many weeks, I was able to master the Celexa side effects and barely feel them anymore. Will I have to start all over again if I switch to Lexapro from Celexa? In particular, will I have to get over the sexual side effects again (which are the worst, for me).

That's a great question. I was always wondering if one could jump from one to the other, given that Lexapro is just the active half of the Celexa molecule. It would be great for people who have issues titrating up on Lexapro.
Sorry that's not an answer. When I decided to return to ADs, I went straight back to Celexa as I haven't heard about any improved profile with Lexapro.

This is my second stint on Celexa. The first time I went up to 20 mg and it solved my problems. This time, 20 mg was not enough and didn't solve the anxiety problems, so I'm switching to Lexapro. I'll let you know what happens.

Are you working with a doctor on this? 40 mgs is considered the therapeutic dose for Celexa. Going up to that may be easier than starting over.
