Klonopin isn't addictive at all for me

Posted by Billym on March 18, 2004, at 17:06:58

I've been taking this drug since the beginning of the year. At first, I was taking 1mg per day of the Purpac generic brand. I noticed a very minimal but consistent effect of the drug. It seemed best to take it very early and then around noon.

Now I take 1 or 2 mg of the Roche brand, which seems slightly more powerful.

I've had two colds, and food poisioning this year, and during these times I STOPPED taking the drug altogether. I noticed no withdrawl symptoms whatsoever.

Currently, I haven't taken the drug for about one week during spring break. I just haven't needed it because I haven't been around people.

I will start taking it again consistently when I go back to school. It does work, reduces social anxiety greatly (usually within one or two doses), and appears to have no side-effects and seems to be completely non-addictive. For me, anyway.

I hope this helps for anyone thinking for trying it for social problems.

A number (it actually feels more like a *few*) of us have found this med to be a good choice and have found docs willing to work with us on using benzo's as treatment. It is good to hear successes declared by others. There are horror stories associated with this med, as well as many others and they have validity.

Everyone is different and we all find our indivdual paths to good treatment.

I'm glad things are working out for you.

Fair warning. Klonopin is a great drug, but I doubt after a couple years you'd be able to drop it so easily. If so... you are lucky. I'm not trying to be critical, you may be an anomaly. I'll be taking it either way cause it helps me sleep.

You're probably right. I think I have a naturally non-addictive personality which may help, and general tolerance of drugs, but clearly, I don't think anyone can avoid some kind of dependence on the drug itself. I would say it's better than using alcohol, though, to function socially. Far better.

Best to ya,

billy
