Hey guys,
I've been taking Wellbutrin for about 4 days now, 150 XL. My pdoc said it would start working in about 2-3 days if i heard him right. Im really not feeling much except some side effects. Maybe he said 2-3 weeks and I misheard him. Usally other anti-depressants take like 4-6 weeks to start up, like SSRI's and everything else, pain in the neck. I just wanted to know if wellbutrin is the same. Thanks

I thought it was 1-4 weeks for WB. I am on WB as well. I am on 300, and I have been for several months after being on 150.These days I just don't think about how SOON it will work. Fighting mental illness is not done with meds alone. I am only concerned about if it works and side effects.
I guess you should just know if it is really working. Like you;'d feel it as opposed to having to analyze and gfigure it out. If it is too difficult to ascertain, then it probably isn't producing the desired response.
I think the worst thing to judge is whether a prophalaxsis antidepressant regimen is working or necessary or just harmful with side effects.
Generally, I would give this a week or two . You should be experiencing side effects and the excess CNS stimulation right now. If you aren't then maybe you are really really depressed.

Hi:
Your guess is quite RIGHT.
WB's full or almost full effect takes between 4-6 weeks.
I've been on WB sr for the past three years and VERY happy about this med. in regard to motivation, energy and concentration.
In my view, 150 mg. WB is a kind 'low dosage,' then once your system gets used to it, try to bring WB sr to the level at which you'll find 'good relief/results.' 300 mg. WB is standard dosage.Hope WB sr works for you GREAT!

This is real vague, but I found it on www.wellbutrin-xl.com which is the official wellbutrin website by glaxo.
Getting relief
As with other antidepressants, it takes time for WELLBUTRIN XL to work. Individual responses may vary. Although you may start to feel better within a couple of weeks, the full antidepressant effect may not be seen for several weeks. It is important to be patient and give the medicine a chance to work. Always take WELLBUTRIN XL exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
I guess a "couple" is 2? I guess "several" is 3 or more?

I've been on Wellbutrin SR 300mg for a month now, and I honestly can say that I don't feel a thing from it. However, I don't think that I'm extremely depressed. I have more of an anxiety problem, along with my moods bouncing up and down without any known triggers.
Is anyone on 450mg? I actually did quite well on a high dose of Remeron (which impacted upon NE), but it caused some bad complications and I had to stop using it. I was hoping that a high enough dose of Wellbutrin would bring about the good NE results like Remeron. And dopamine never hurts! *smile*

I've been on Wellbutrin SR 200mg. going on two weeks now. Like yourself my issue is anxiety/panic disorder which triggered my depression. You said something about your mood bouncing up and down without any known triggers...this sounds alot like what I've been experiencing since I've been on Wellbutrin. It has gotten better...is this suppose to be a side effect?
Are you taking anything besides Wellbutrin?

If a big symptom of depression for you is low energy, you may start physically feeling better pretty quick. 3rd day for me, I woke up, looked at the ceiling and WANTED to get up cuz I was done sleeping. It was very weird. :P

You lucky duck.
I'd be too scared to ask my doctor for a stimulant, and I'm pretty sure she would never write a script for it. She won't even give me Ativan for anxiety.
So I'll just continue to slump my way through, half-awake all the time. Lol.

>My experience exactly. I've gone on Wellbutrin 3-4 times, it always cuts in with the stimulant/energizing effect on day 3 or 4. Other people seem to notice a (different?) A/D effect over the space of 3-4 weeks or more. I can't tolerate the high activation long-term without other meds.
