Went to see an ENT specialist today because of all the throat problems I've been having. it's been going on for over 4 years but has suddenly worsened. My throat closes,i feel like I always have a post nasal drip, and my mouth is so dry I can't swallow. part of me was hoping this would just be a medical problem, that could be solved with a pill. Turns out, another doc (that's 3 in 4 years) says it's all anxiety. He says I'm putting psychological stress on my vocal chords, and now starting this week I'm going to see a speech therapist. Has this ever happened to anyone out there? God, it's so ridiculous that I have moments that I just can't speak.

Hello, I do this weird thing off and on that feels like something is hanging in my throat. Kind of where post nasal drip occurs. It is usually worse when I am trying to sleep. Does this off and on. Does it sound about the same?

This is to weird, i seen ent monday just gone, 1st march and i have the same problem, but i am also deaf in my right ear, i have to have a big op, remove my tonsils, stick a tube fron my ear to my throat, and i am at the moment sticking drops up my nose, ear and i am on strong antibiotics, i am constantly suffering with ent problems have all my life, i am 24yrs old, and i sound like i am a 10 yr old with a cold... its sooo annoying, i obsess about it all the time, i cant swallow, etc etc.. its awfull, BUT with the right therapy you will get through it, it is all anxiety, you would be amazed on what anxiety can do...
Good luck

thanks for the lift crazy chick. However your situation sounds a lot different than mine. You actually have a medical problem...no one can find anything wrong with me. It's so bizarre. But starting this week, I'm going to have to start seeing a speech therapist to teach me how to strengthen my vocal chords.
I wish you the best of luck though, with your operation. it doesn't sound like much fun.
