what does it feel like when a mood stablizer is actually working?
Because I can't imagine that continuing to have crazy mood swings from minute to minute means that keppra is working.....Diane

Some mood swings are normal when they are brought on by events. But if your medicine is not working then you will know if you still get them for no apparent reason. I take 1200mg of lithium a day now. And I notice a huge difference. Before I would get so depressed I couldn't even will myself to do the basic things in life. Sleep way too much. Now I sleep less and find that things just aren’t the challenge for me like they use to be. Kind of hard to explain.

I have only been on Topamax so far and for three weeks. It seems to be working a bit, but I know it takes time. Today is not so good for me mood wise though. I am up and down a lot today.

Hi,
I've been on topamax for a month on 100 mg, and still experience depression so I had to take my old antidepressant along with it. But I just don't feel good I don't want to go anywhere do anything. I don't know what to tell my doctor. I'm also taking ativan for anxiety and over the counter sleeping aid to sleep for my insomnia. What you guys think???

I'm off Topamax now and on Seroquel for mood and Effexor for depression. I feel great and the combo seems to be working well for me at the moment. My pDoc said that Seroquel was great mood stabilizer. It also helps my racing mind and helps me sleep...
