I was wondering if you could split Paxil CR. I am taking 25mg and wanted to try half the dose, since I have terrible problems with motivation, energy, and hypersomnolence.
I suggested to half my Paxil, but my pdoc thought that adding a small dose of Wellbutrin would help; however, it is making me more tired plus spacey. I know, it shouldn't make you tired, but it is.
I can't stand having no motivation, or energy, plus sleeping 14 hrs a day. Paxil has really helped me out and I had been on 10mg of the regular Paxil in the past without these extreme side effects. So, I thought, that less might be better.
Thanks for any replies.

I have no personal experience to know if it's safe to split the Paxil CR - you might get MORE side effects. I was ok with splitting Wellbutrin XR (but don't do this if you have a history of seizures!).
However, if you do try splitting, use the split pill asap - a pharmacist pointed out to me once that some drugs deteriorate quickly when exposed to air without their protective coating.

>Unfortunately You can't split a controlled release pill without destroying it's controlled release properties...it's the coating on the pill that allows for the slower/delayed absorbtion of the medication. Fortunately, Paxil Cr comes in a 12.5 mg dose..so just ask you dr.
