I have OCD and currently take Lexapro(30mg). I have recently been diagnosed with bipolar I as well. My psychiatrist wants to keep me on the lexapro for the ocd, and mentioned lithium for the bipolar. Lithium seems very extreme and institutional to me. Is this just a stereotype or am I correct. Does it have bad side effects? Also, don't people feel "zombie" like on Lithium?
Any advice would be wonderful.

This is just a sterotype. Lithium is highly effective in certain (classic) forms of Bipolar I, has been in use for a long time and many people find it well tolerated.
