I would compete with you for the title of Nardil champion (what sort of contest would we have, heh) if I could find a doctor that would prescribe an MAOI! I feel unfairly disqualified from this competition! Doctors that I have access to seem to have this aversion to prescribing drugs that actually work. MAOIs actually ELEVATE MOOD, unlike most antidepressants.
Someday when I get money, I am going to purchase Nardil or Parnate from overseas with some sublingual nifedipine and freaking do it myself. I am tired of this medication merry-go-round. Well, either that, or 200-400mg of tramadol extended release ... the opioid that escaped scheduling a la carisoprodol. Come to think of it, 400mg tramadol/day with a new DA agonist would probably be awesome.

How dare you!!!! Just kidding!
if I could find a doctor that would prescribe an MAOI!
It never suprises me how smart patients are and how silly doctors can be....the whole issue with benzophobic doctors illustates my point. Doctors have to learn to treat the patient instead of the text book.
It annoys me that MAOIs are rarely prescribed...they are so efficacious and safe...in the long term....only rare hepatic problems...VERY rare. The diet is not as limited as some say...as a matter of fact I don't notice it!
I feel unfairly disqualified from this competition! Doctors that I have access to seem to have this aversion to prescribing drugs that actually work. MAOIs actually ELEVATE MOOD, unlike most antidepressants.Absolutely true...I have hundereds of clinical trials for all AD categories in my house...MAOIs come out the best in terms of AD response. Doctors who have aversion to prescribing MAOIs probably have NEVER prescribed one! They have listened and been brainwashed by lies...
Like the lie that CBT is efficacious in 90% of Panic patients...at long term (2 year) follow up...it is more like 10% success. And who knows whether this 10% is attributable to the CBT or time factor...
