I take Abilify and the longer I take it the more I like it. I have multiple personalities and the Abilify allows me to be more comfortable with my core personality. I'm also more sociable.

I haven't heard of Abilify. Is is an antidepressant? Does it cause the weight gain and sexual side effects that many SSRI's do?

I take 3.75 mg daily (one-quarter of a 15 mg tablet). Sometimes I can get by on one-quarter of a 10 mg tablet (2.5 mg).

Abilify is a very potent drug, which explains the micro-dosing. It is also a very different drug compared to Zyprexa and Seroquel. While they are sedating, Abilify is activating. It has a very "liberating" action...I've never felt so free in all my life.

I'm so glad for you .. I'm breaking a 10 in half so 5mgs a day.
I actually felt a little more together today.
weight gain I hear it's better than the other anti phsycotics but it's 50/50 I heard.
I'm trying the no AD route since I'm bipolar. If I took symbax I'd be as big as a house ..prozac killed my sex drive, made me lethargic, I gained 50 pounds and the zyprexa is known for weight gain I believe. But the combo sounds good besides that ... I wish us all luck!

Does Abilify start working right away, or does it take weeks like the ADs?

My doctor told me that it takes 2-3 weeks. I just began taking it yesterday. I'm taking 15mg/day for schizoaffective disorder.
I haven't noticed any difference over the past two days, whether positive or negative.

hey, i started abilify a few weeks ago at 10mg/day. i don't know if it's helped or not, but it hasn't made me feel worse, which is usually the case with antipsychotics. on zyprexa, seroquel, and risperdal, i was so tired that i could barely function. abilify, if nothing else, is different. hope it works for you. cb
