For about 6 months now I've been getting these paranoid feelings. Like when sitting in the front seat of my car I get paranoid that the person in the back seat is looking at me. This is all I can concentrate on, until they leave. If there is someone sittin beside me I really nervous and can't concentrate and I always feel they are looking at me. Also I get fears that people are conspiring against me, like tryin to break in my house and put drugs in my drinks. Is this paranoia or anxiety? I've had social anxiety since age 12 but now I have these problems. Maybe my anxiety got worse? Is this normal anxiety or is it paranoia. please help

Ok, I don't know a lot about you but I will
chime in. I'm leaning towards paranoia,
especially when you start thinking about
conspiracies.I've felt this while on my worst manic
episodes, although there are other things
that can trigger this. Usually the paranoia
is accompanied by anxiety. But for me anxiety
is not always accompanied by paranoia.
A lot of time symptoms of paranoia,
particularly feelings about conspiracies against
you, can be induced by abusing meds like speed
(methamphetamine). Not that either example
is necessarily pertinent to your situation. The other alternative is that you did some
wrong and a group of people are out for
revenge, but I doubt it. You seem kind enough. ;)I would suggest getting into to see
a physician to talk about your feelings.
I think you will get appropriate treatment.good luck,
-john

I suffer pretty terribly with paranoia (but get paranoid that people will think I;m mad if I tell them, so tend not to tell anyone!!!)
I've found that Zyprexa has really h elped with this. I still am pretty sure everyone is talking badly about me, but somedays i can go to the shop without freaking out!! Alot better than I was.
Paranoia and anxiety are really close bed fellows though!!

Thanks John. Also, SSRI's make my paranoia a lot worse. Benzos are helpful too me but I don't want to start abusing them. I've come to a conclusion that I have a serotonin problem if ssri's make my paranoia worse. Any treatment options recommended would be appreciated,
thanks

I suffer from parinoia and anxiety. I beleive its due to excess dopamine rebound. I do alot of ghb, which i tell you makes me so like DR Jeckle and mr hide. When i take a ghb dose, all my inibitions, parinoia anxiety depression phobia dissapates and i feel wonderful. due to the half life, it wears off quickly, requireing further dosing. Afer a while you get a dopamine rebound affect, which causes alot of paranioa. Ghb is like a mericle drug short acting for acute panic, anxiety, depression, social phobia. NO MED can even touch the effects of ghb. But do to the idiodic persons that abuse it and use it for rape, its illegal. Withdrawls are nasty without benzos or zyprexa

> thanksYeah you want to go with the anti-psychotics
like rispideral, zyprexa, olanzapine, and friends. The others were steering you in the right direction.
Zyprexa seems like a good choice. Most of these
meds will curb anxiety and probably alleviate the
paranoia at higher doses. You can even
take these with the SSRI's to get a more robust
response. They would likely help with any
SSRI induced anxiety.I was wondering if you were ever prescribed
a stimulant like Adderall in order to help
with social anxiety/phobia? Sometimes they
make you more out going but can lead to
paranoia.good luck,
John

I am sorry for not telling my whole story. I think an acid trip led to my paranoia. It was a stupid decision I made but I was on Paxil at the time which made me extremely BOLD ( was taking it for social anxiety-it's weird because when I try ssri's now they increase my anxiety/paranoia). It's been a long time since I took the acid (6 months). I never touched that or any weed in a long time and I'm never touching them again in my life. I think this is the cause of my paranoia because the only other drugs I touched was Paxil and some dope.
I see my psych tomorrow.

> I see my psych tomorrow.Hmmm... I've experienced mild drug paranoia, smoking too much weed. I thought cars driving past me from behind were going to run me over. If I didn't watch them, my fear would rise with the engine noise to an almost unbearable level. But it didn't really occur to me that it was paranoia until it had gone, after I gave up weed for a few weeks. I just thought I was feeling a little anxious. IMO if you think you're paranoid, you probably aren't. If you know your thoughts are paranoid, then you can challenge them, like normal anxiety.
BTW, I smoke the dope again now with no paranoid ideas at all...that I've noticed...

hi there
my first post here - have you considered that your paranoia is an extreme projection? that is, that you are really looking at you and thinking negative thoughts taht you are not consciously aware of at this time (for one reason or antoher?) it's possibly worth a look at anyhow, or finding more info about it - try this book Emotional Clearing by John Ruskan talks about projecting. there is also heaps of literature on search engines (google for example) when you search on paranoia+projection. don't belive everything you read, but alot of it does make sense!
regards
nat
