Im in trouble guys!!! Help- Naltrexone

Posted by ace on January 23, 2004, at 20:30:59

After first dose of 25mg naltrexone I felt (around 11 hours later) good and hyped...and a little bit of derealization and anxiety.

After the second dose, the next morning at 6 am I woke up. Within 15 mins I felt extreme and scary anxiety...swallowed 5 Xanax and slep for 40 hours almost straight.

I paid heap for that Naltrexone...why would it cause the anxiety/derealization/panic to get worse?

What should I do????

Ace
Nardil 60
Zyprexa 2.5
Xanax 1mg PRN

I really don't know what to tell you about the Naltrexone. Maybe someone else can speak to you from experience.

Just a little piece of brotherly advice: It might be to your benefit to think in terms of weeks and months rather than hours and days.

Ace,
I've read some of your posts over the months and to me it seems that you've done fairly well on just the Nardil. Maybe you should just back off the Naltrexone. No offense, but the tone of your posts seem like you are aiming at euphoria rather than a reduction of symptoms. Go back to taking what was making you feel the best. Also watch out for hypomania disguising itself as euthymia. It has happened to me

Ace, I love you dearly, but I really think you should stick to what you are on for at least a few months. You keep changing your meds so often that it's hard to keep up with what you are on. I am sure your brain feels the same way.

Peace.

Maxime

I have done brilliant and I have another suprise! Read below for my new post!

Maybe you should just back off the Naltrexone.

I have.

Very true...I have no anhedonia and a modicum of boredom I can wrongly define as 'depression' Although I have suffered severe depression like most of us here.

Go back to taking what was making you feel the best. Also watch out for hypomania disguising itself as euthymia.

Well read before...Nardil doesn't understand euthymic affect...It goes for euphoria!!! I love it!!!

It has happened to me

Good luck friend,

This was probably serotonin syndrome.

Naltrexon could perhaps have some serotogenic side effects.

I got the same thing when I combined Celexa with SJW. At first I felt a little bit better, and then a sudden anxiety almost psychotic in nature.

And it started with a crazy thought that popped into my head. Can't remember what it was but it made no sense at all.

Gotta be careful will MAOI's

Best of Luck
