hi all. i've been on paxil 20mg for about 7 years now. i was recently switched to 30mg and felt awful...spacy and more anxious than before...so was moved back to 20. all by a GP who didn't know meds. now i've been seeing a psychopharmacologist who is going to switch me to lexapro. i have xanax for the transition (i have GAD and minor panic) but should i expect any major effects? i'm very nervous. any advice, especially from those who've switched from paxil to lexapro, woudl be great. thanks!

Hi,
I wasn't on Paxil long enough for it to have made an impact when I started lex. But, I've noticed that people who transition from something to lexapro seem to experiences less side effects than those who are just starting out on the drug. Also, lex has done wonders for my anxiety. I feel like a "normal" human being again and I don't have to worry about panic attacks anymore. I hope you make an easy transition from Paxil to Lexapro. I was on Pax for 2 months and switched to Lex. I don't think you'll have any problems. Good Luck!!

hi there...if you don't mind my asking, why did you switch from paxil to lex? the paxil seems to not be working for me anymore...but that can't have been the case with you since you were on it such a short time. can i have withdrawal from paxil if switching to another ssri? thanks! :)
